David Occhiuto

David graduated magna cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law in May of 2020, ranking 28th overall in his class, earning a jurisprudence award in Negotiation. During his time in law school, David participated in the MSU Law First Amendment Clinic, teaching lectures at Michigan high schools, providing instruction to students on the importance of free speech in the context of public school. David also worked for a mid-sized law firm in the Okemos area, specializing primarily in automobile negligence, premises liability, and no-fault insurance.

In his free time, David enjoys any activity involving physical fitness, particularly weight training and bike riding. As a first generation Italian-American, David especially enjoys cooking Italian cuisine, much of which he learned from his grandmother while growing up. David loves writing and continues to do so in his free time, writing both creative pieces, as well as legal pieces in the field of constitutional law. While in high school, David won two Michigan Interscholastic Press Association awards as a staff writer for his school newspaper, “The Comet’s Tale.” David is an avid sports fan—his favorite teams including the Michigan State Spartans (Go Green) and the Detroit Lions.

As the first of his family to go to law school, David prides himself on his achievements in the legal field thus far and looks forward to making a name for himself in the Metro Detroit Area as a member of the Cardelli Lanfear team.
